This is completely out of hand! I spoke with a supervisor yesterday regarding the situation and he said someone would be out here and nothing. What can we do?
I called the OPD non emergency number yesterday to see if they could at least get the homeless encampment out of the middle of the street. The encampment is now off the curb and obstructing the lane of traffic. This is a major safety hazard ! OPD came out and when I followed up later that afternoon, noticing that nothing had changed, I was told that a garbage pickup had been arranged. I told them the reason for my call originally was to get the encampments out of the street not a request for garbage pickup. If I was concerned about the garbage that would be a daily phone call. Very very frustrating that nothing get done.
I'm not sure what OPD's stance is on the homeless. The mayor could be telling them not to harass the homeless or they will show up when least expected and remove them. I've seen it happen, when they removed an encampment by our home a few years back. Just keep complaining or email your district city leader
