Description
Boro allows contractor to park trucks on downtown parking lot against ordinance claiming trucks are involved in a sidewalk project ... but the facts don't match. The 20-ton dump truck sat more than a week filled with shrubbery such as arbor vitae. Boro claims project is at mid point but truck is sitting through 2nd week unused. And damaged municipal curbing caused by these trucks has not been repaired.
Question: Why can't the Boro allow the contractor to park reserve construction equipment in the maintenance yard out of sight? Or in contractor's yard a few miles down Chapel Ave?

Overnight parking is an immediate violation, not a code-enforcement matter. Boro's allowance of long-term illegal parking for this contractor is discriminatory ... in addition to unsightly. Last May Mayor Brennan announced that Merchantville residents must be denied reserved parking on crowded streets because "RENTERS ARE CLIENTS OF LANDLORDS" (rental business); therefore, protected parking for residents would discriminate against businesses having clients.
Applying the specious argument, the Boro discriminates against residents by permitting contractor(s) to park illegally. Chalking a tire will show the truck is not being used.

Question: Why does Boro show special consideration to this one contractor? Has it to do with the contractor's real estate investment business?
