There are a few factors that are taken into consideration when determining which streets will be rehabilitated, and when. The first is the Pavement Condition Rating (PCR). We hire an outside consulting firm to perform an analysis of streets and determine the PCR for each. The ratings are between 0 and 100, with 100 being a new roadway. Cobbler Way is currently rated 55. Many streets are rated below this.
Another factor is the amount of traffic on the street. The more heavily traveled roadways will typically be rehabilitated before a less traveled roadway with an equal PCR.
Also, if we are in a neighborhood doing pavement rehabilitation, we will try to improve most of the streets within the neighborhood that are in need of repair.
The amount of funding that is available during a given year is also a factor that is considered when an improvement plan is proposed.
Cobbler Way is scheduled to be rehabilitated in 2019. We will continue to repair potholes and make other temporary repairs as necessary, until we can mill and overlay the roadway.
