You could put up a million signs and it wouldn't make any difference so long as there is no enforcement. Speeding on this stretch of road is a greater, more serious and urgent concern, but nothing is done about it. The posted speed limit is 25 mph. Does anyone pay any attention to it? No. There is no enforcement. There has never been any enforcement and as a result you have a speedway. The day will come when someone will be on a cell phone driving like a maniac and come around the bend just before Torrey Street, lose control of their car or truck, jump the curb and slam into an innocent, unsuspecting pedestrian. Furthermore, Emory Street isn't wide enough for two lanes. Heavy trucks travel it every day despite it being a residential area. It's an unsafe situation, but the powers that be don't care. That's the bottom line - the people running the city don't care, otherwise none of these problems would have gone unattended for years.

I suspect another factor to the lane violations is the quickly worn away paint. Would it be possible to get that section assigned a more frequent re-marking schedule? (And in the longer term, since the expenses would be much greater, would it be possible to explore the use of physical -- not paint -- narrowing of the single travel lane of Emory going into that curve, both to slow/calm traffic and to make the abrupt widening into a left/straight lane and a right-turn-only lane clearer?)

More paint and more signs are not the solution. Enforcement is the only way bad driving habits change. When was the last time anyone saw a police officer write a ticket for speeding or improper lane changes anywhere on Emory Street? People fly down Emory Street. If they don't observe the posted speed limit, what makes anyone think that painting directions on the road surface is going to make a difference?Have the police start ticketing - for speeding and texting while driving, and you'll see a change in driving habits. People don't even slow down when they make the right turn on to Forest. It's a bad situation and you can complain until you're blue in the face - nothing is going to happen. The people who run the city don't care about traffic issues/driving habits on Emory Street. How many times have I seen cars flying down Emory Street and run a red light? More times than I can count. Enough said.
