This is no doubt the daily debris left by "Clement street's very own" homeless man. He sleeps on the corner of funston and clement and every day he loads his shopping cart back up with most of his trash and rolls it down to the corner of 9th and clement where he either parks on the walgreem cornier, or more likely, the bank of the west corner--where he has created if not a permanent pile of trash, he has al least left an indelible puddle of grime on the sidewalk.
If you come out on any given day, you'll see that some compassionate person has given him something; food, clothing, shoes. I gave him some absolutely brand new shoes once, which he may or may bnot still have. I tried to give him a jacket on a cold day, but that got dragged through his muck and left on the corner. I tried giving him food, but as you'll notice, this man just takes it and he might eat a bit of it, but mostly he just leaves it on the sidewalk, throws it around. I wanted to help this extremely smelly man, but gave up after a few tries and and decided to ignore him, but his trail of trash, his smell and often, his blocking of traffic, means you can't help but notice him.
This is a chronic situation. I was hoping the BIG push by the City to deal with these issues would include him, but so far, no. This man needs serious help. There is nothing we as citizens can do in this situation. I suggest reporting him every day -every time he is seen. Otherwise, it will just continue as status quo.
I have seen this man so often for what seems like 20 years. Yes, he stinks. Yes, he creates garbage. Yet he is one of the gentlest souls I know. People have tried over the years to get him off the street but whatever happened in his life the right approach has never been found. I don't want him on the street either, but this is one time when I have to put aside all my insistence on the end of homelessness in SF (and of course in my neighborhood) and let him have whatever peace he can find in this world. Even if he does smell.
This is pretty much a days trash from this guy, but more importantly from the concerned locals. He barely touches it, but enjoys spreading it around. Funny enough you give him a dollar and he's very fastidious with it. I watched him "facing" his bills the other day. If anything he needs one of those mobile showers to come round and make him take a shower😀
Just for fun . . . this case will never be closed or resolved. The corner ( his home ) where he slept this morning, trashed. No doubt the corner where he keeps his office, there at 9th and clement is already trashed again, but the reality is, what street in the immediate area--the clement street shopping zone, is not carelessly trashed. Far too much of a culture that just doesn't care. Clement is a dump. Great food, lotsa markets, lotsa culture, but it's trash dump.
