Oh excuse me. I forgot that it's OK to break the law on holidays.

well my friend last july 4th had a firework land on her roof and her house burnt down because of it. hence the law. if it goes up it must come down somewhere. hopefully not on your roof or anyone's. it is a horrific event to lose all you own to fire because it is a holiday. These folks almost did not have a life due to the fireworks on a holiday. If there is a law there must be a reason for it being law. have a safe 4th.Just Sayin!

I still don't understand why the city allows all of these firework stands when they are illegal to set off.

I've heard horror stories about fireworks gone astray -- terrible injuries and property damages, I've had friends who had them shoot through windows, screened pool enclosures, roofs. Not to mention the stress of the noise, on pets as well. The loop hole allowing them to be sold arises when people must sign an affidavit that they will be using them to scare off birds from farms or fish hatcheries -- not much of an issue in residential areas. Florida law classifies it as a first-degree misdemeanor, which means those convicted could face up to a year in prison, a $1,000 fine and court costs.

SPPD Will not respond. there are chosen laws to certain people that they respond to. much like the city itself.....we had the fireworks going all night and it is still june.

People have been celebrating this way for as long as i remember and i am 50. Like i said get a life. There are many more urgent matters to worry about

Well, Dave -- it's now against the law!! Some people have already lied, signed the affidavit, and purchased fireworks to terrorize their neighborhood with. What will your reaction be if one lands on your roof. Will you shrug your shoulders, or raise cain? lol

I have a hose . Otherwise i do not spend my days worrying about trivialities. Lighting would the same thing. People like to have fun. To hell with spoil sports.

Have fun? The same could be said for drunkenness. During the past 50 years drunk driving, public intoxication and domestic abuse were ignored, but thankfully they are now also illegal. Worry? Trivial. I think not. Somehow I don't think you'll calmly get out the hose.
