Ya know ...I'm watching East Oakland slowly (or not so slowly) turn into the city's dumping ground ..even as the gentrification of North Oakland and to a certain extent West Oakland is in full swing; I'm not normally a conspiracy theorist however ...there are sure a lot of people of color here that are being ignored ....hmmmmm. We have a school over here for Christ sakes! But I guess it's ok for lil black kids and brown kids to walk through filth to get grades ...Wonder if Piedmont has this issue? You have hotels with security cameras facing streets ...get them involved!!! Investigate the dump sites ...you know the dumpers aren't smart enough NOT to leave clues ...At least FAKE like you care ...sheesh!
No problem, Sextus - it's my neighborhood too - rumor has it there is a lil known program sponsored by city of Oakland that gives cash incentives to people who observe and report illegal dumping ...if we can investigate and make this known? Maybe cash will get done what civic pride won't ...whatever works! I can say that I have friends in the hills above Golf Links ...they are dumping up there too ... Sign me "Tired of the cesspool"
If you witness illegal dumping contact the Law Corps 510-238-6517 lawcorps@oaklandcityattorney.org I understand that the City offers rewards up to half the fine collected. If you want to help as clean up volunteers check out the Keep Oakland Beautiful.org website.
Oh C'mon!!! Nobody illegally dumps when there is a possibility of witnesses!! you know this ..they wait til 2 and 3:00 AM while we are sleep ...we go to bed when it's recently cleaned and we get up with a new dump!! how about somebody sift through the trash, find a phone # an address, a partially torn bill or magazine ..and trace it to the culprits? you either dumped it ...or you paid to dump it ..either way ...Why is it that we are always recommended to help "Clean-up volunteer ..." but no one wants to ENFORCE? I could be a cleanup volunteer ad nauseum ...how about we hold somebody responsible? Catch the dumpers and make THEM "mandatory volunteer"?

Welcome the PWD cottage industry different crews do different jobs. Some crews do nothing and others if possible find a subcontractor do the work. Our tax dollars at work sort of. I want to thank the PWD crews I see really busting there butts to bad they over shadowed by the slackers.

What we need is more people in the community to be active and critical of what is going on.
