Description
Residents were told the crosswalk was going to be painted the hug visibility green in the spring by the traffic commission. It appears the white stripes were repainted recently, but that's it. Drivers are still blowing through the crosswalk with people in the middle. Please follow through with what we were told and paint the center section!

As previously stated, this crosswalk was repainted during the spring. It is on our annual painting schedule and will be repainted again next spring. As you are aware, this is a very busy roadway. The painted crosswalks wear down faster than other areas. In some cases it can only take a few hours for it to appear as though it had not been re-painted recently.
We have made the Commissioner of Public Works aware of the situation and he concurs that the crosswalk will have to wait for the spring to be painted again.

So I was stopped at the intersection at St Mary's Credit union today, and looked down at the crosswalk. It is a lovely bright white which can be seen as having been recently applied. In fact that whole intersection is nice and white. You can even see the old dull white where they didn't spray new paint.
When I got home and crossed the street using the crosswalk that was "painted" this Spring, it's that same unpainted dull white from when I moved here in January of 2015.
Based on your statement that it was painted, but could fade in a matter of hours due to high traffic volume, how could the St. Mary's paintwork still look so bright?? That intersection is much more heavily used than our section of Lincoln street.
Do you honestly believe that the Lincoln crosswalk was painted??? You can see the old paint under the new paint on Rte 20. Not so on Lincoln. It's all just dull white. It was never painted.
John Irish agreed it hadn't been touched, and assured me it would be corrected. Now we will have to wait ANOTHER year??
There are thirty units at 406 Lincoln, valued from about a quarter million to more than a half - each. We all pay taxes and would like to see some attention paid to the street we live on. We have families with young children, and some with disabilities. We need SOMEONE to pay attention to our requests and make our street safer. Too bad it looks like it's going to take someone being mowed down before anyone cares.
And that's NOT an exaggeration.

The St Mary's crosswalk was painted very recently (several weeks ago) and also uses an entirely different type of sidewalk application called Thermoplastic Marking. Lincoln Street WAS painted at the beginning of the year with standard crosswalk paint. We have absolutely no reason to state otherwise. As far as Councilor Irish is concerned, we have not heard anything from him regarding this situation. However, we would be more than happy to discuss the facts of the situation and the process with him if he wants to contact us on your behalf. The Thermoplastic Marking is a very different process and also VERY expensive. As we have stated before, the sidewalk in front of the lofts is on our annual painting schedule and receives the type of treatment that has been deemed appropriate for the location. As you are also aware, any additional markings (signage, paint, etc.) would be the responsibility of the management company for the lofts and/or the homeowner's association. The type of treatment we are talking about in that location would be to the tune of $3,000 for the crosswalk alone. If that is a process you are interested in pursuing, I would suggest you bring it up with the property management group.
