Description

Chapel St between East St and James St is in terrible condition. There is so much glass, garbage, and twisted metal on the sidewalks (which themselves are destroyed) a woman cannot safely walk this area in open toed shoes. There is a foot or two of this debris going into the road forcing cyclists to ride deeper into traffic. Chapel St is a major connector between the downtown area and Fairhaven and beyond, it should be safely walkable and bikeable. I imagine a lot of the debris is the result of Alderman Dow. I request the Department of Public Works to street clean this segment of chapel which I have never seen cleaned, someone clean the sidewalks, and LCI investigate Alderman Dow and hold them accountable for their contribution to this issue. Further, the sidewalks should be fixed, but I think that's probably unrealistic.
