My wife has a heart condition and it's critical that emergency medical services have unobstructed access to our home. Access to our street is hampered by floods during heavy rains. The problem is that the drainage ditch that runs behind our house has not been cleared by the county in about 10 years. The county cleared brush from the ditch every two years in the past. The flooding condition has worsened over the last few years. Access to our street was almost impossible after the recent heavy rain. The brush continues to grow and blockage worsens every month. Additional growth of the brush plus a heavy rain will make it impossible for emergency medical services to access our home and also limit our ability to escape to the emergency room. The condition is literally putting my wife's life in danger. Someone needs to take responsibility for this. Neighbors have contacted the County in the past and were told the ditch is the responsibility of the golf course and the golf course claims the issue is with the County. The County has always maintained the ditch in the past and that is proof that the County is responsible. We had a major house fire in 2010. We know only too well how critical it is for fire department to have easy access to our street.. The ditch that runs parallel with Bardmoor Place was cleared this year allowing more water to flow freely to our street compounding the problem. The water flowing from Bardmoor Place is blocked by the brush in our ditch causing more flooding for us. Not clearing the ditch behind our home is putting everyone on our street at risk. Also, the water in the ditch stagnates during periods of no rain or light rain and it becomes a breeding ground for mosquitoes. That puts the entire neighborhood at a greater risk of diseases spread by mosquitoes. Please clear the ditch to allow the water to drain properly..
