Historically the fields at East Shore were used to produce hay for the ship yard where it was used as packing material for goods shipped out of New Haven. This year, these fields will be left for hay as a demonstration of this historic use and to serve as an educational experience for New Haven residents. A mow strip of 8-10 feet has been created as a buffer around the trails to help to reduce some concerns we've heard.
Closing out last year's issue. Again this year we will be haying the open space within the walking loop. This year we will be including signage to help to inform the public.
