Description

HELLO CITY OF OAKLAND.
On 54th Ave , where I reside there's a huge problem with speeding . The street leads down to international which cars love to fly down to . However I find it EXTREMELY crazy that they're aren't speed bumps running down 54th considering it's a residential area and there's and elementary school 5 minutes away. I see kids walking home from school all the time and cars just flying by . It's a HUGE risk factor . I'm fearful it's going to take the unnecessary death of a child to get the city's attention . It's an easily fixable problem. INSTALL A SPEED HUMP. We don't even need the whole street flushed with them, just a few that regulates speed. It's to the point where cars can only park on one side of the street because it's a narrow street and they are fearful of getting swiped.
I don't even drive and I'm concerned , because I know the potential risk as a walking padestrian . We need speed humps on 54th . PLEASE don't over look this situation , if you care anything for you're Oakland residents and the youth who are going to propel this city , install speed humps on 54th ave . At least for the kids sake . This is a huge residential area . There's a school on 54th ( lower ) and Vicksburg ( higher ) . We aren't protected and it would be a tragedy of someone got hit . The driver wouldn't be to blame , nor the pedestrian . It would honestly be the cities fault . There's nothing regulating traffic of 54th ave . No signs, no humps . Please help us feel safe again , care about us how we care about this city . Care about the children .
