Description

This is regarding the new LED street lights. While I am pleased that the City is being more energy aware and cost effective, I question the selection of the brightness and intensity of the new fixtures. they are SO bright that I had to purchase new shades for my front windows, the white light is so bright that is actually casts shadows and is brighter than our natural daylight! Additionally, the glare from the light itself is blinding when looked at or even glanced at while driving causing a HUGE concern. This is made worse in areas of few lights since the human eye needs time to adjust back to darkness after looking at such a bright object...this is science, not opinion. This creates a driving hazard to property and pedestrians. The solution is simple, install a filter over the fixture changing the light back to amber and thereby lowering the intensity, I STRONGLY encourage the City managers to drive the areas at night when it is truly dark and see for yourselves.
