Description
The corner of 51st and 43rd ave north, is a road hazard its completely dark at night. Ppl fly through the intersection and blow through the stop sign. There are kids that play there. Is it going to take a child to get hit before we get a light. There is a street light in my neighbors backyard is there away to move it to the corner of 43rd ave and 51st north. Thank you. I'm sending you a pic of the intersection.

It explains how street lighting in unincorporated Pinellas County is handled.

The County does not tax for street lighting like municipalities do, so we don’t provide it. It’s much like the garbage pickup in unincorporated Pinellas County, we don’t tax for the service, so we don’t provide it. Property owners in unincorporated Pinellas have to pay for their street lights, either directly to Duke Energy, or by setting up a street lighting district (SLD) thru the County. With a County controlled SLD, we pay the bill monthly, but re-coup those monies, as well as an admin fee, each year by way of a non-ad valorem assessment on the property tax bills of those property owners within the SLD.
As there is no SLD in your area, your neighbor must be paying Duke Energy directly for that light in his back yard, as I have no record of it. There is no way for me to have that private light adjusted as you requested.
If you would like more information on the County’s SLD program, or if you want to investigate having your own light put up at this intersection, please let me know and I will provide whatever information you require.
Thank you,
Jim Cannon
