That is sad. So many trees have been lost in the West End in recent years. Trees not only help to improve the environment, they also add to property values -- just check out the tree cover in Alameda's wealthiest neighborhoods. The loss of trees harms not only property owners and neighborhoods, but also the City of Alameda due to lower property tax revenue.
