A police officer can post a notice on an "apparently abandoned" vehicle then have it removed 24 hours later, but I doubt you'll find an officer willing to do this on a residential street unless the vehicle has been there a very long time.
The local municipality can optionally remove the vehicle after 30 days, but the law doesn't compel them to do so.
Thank you so much for the information listed above as it is extremely helpful when having to deal with a vehicle that has been parked on a street for a long time.
Yes, the vehicle has since moved and I have closed this issue.
