Description

DDOT, please re-evaluate signage for northbound Reservoir Road as it intersects with Canal Road NW. Redesign of this intersection has been very productive, in general, for pedestrians, bicyclists and vehicles to access and depart Fletcher's Boathouse. However, there is a significant problem during evening rush hour when both lanes are outbound only on Canal Road. Drivers heading north on Reservoir Road erroneously assume that both lanes on Canal Road are also outbound (northbound) only during these hours - and then use both lanes for northbound traffic (including crossing the yellow line to use the left side of the roadway). This causes impossible to resolve gridlock for drivers heading out (southbound) of Fletcher's Boathouse during these hours. The drivers exiting Fletcher's get the green light first and head south up the ramp At the top of the ramp, they correctly face two lanes of outbound on Canal Road and incorrectly face two lanes of traffic facing them coming down Reservoir Road. There is no place for them to go, even though Reservoir is two lanes at all hours. Please improve signage on northbound Reservoir Road approaching Road to make it extra clear that drivers may not cross the yellow lines to use both lanes of traffic during any hours. The left lane across the yellow lines has to be kept free for traffic leaving Fletcher's Boathouse that is trying to go up (southbound) on Reservoir Road.
