Description
On May 12, about 6 PM, my 6 yr old granddaughter sat down on the wooden bench outside of the Academy Building where she had just attended a Drama Class. She ended up with a huge splinter on the back of her thigh, the bench is not in good shape. The next day we spent 5-6 hrs in the ER at Newton-Wellesley hospital where at least 3 drs attempted to take out the splinter. Because it was wood, it came apart into many little pieces. After hours of trying, which was very difficult for Sierra, the doctors decided that they could not get all the pieces out. This week she is on a strong antibiotic, needs to soak her leg every day in warm water, and put on an antibiotic ointment and big bandaid. On Friday she has an appt to see a surgeon to see if now she needs surgery to get the rest of the splinter out.
This has been very difficult for Sierra, and we wanted to make sure that this does not happen to anyone else. The bench is rough, and needs to be fixed.
