Description

A new group of homeless people has set up a camp on the path underneath the Lake Merritt Blvd bridge (west side of Lake Merritt channel). I realize that this is a popular spot for homeless camping and I don't argue with the City's overall handling of it in this location.

This new group however seems less "keep to themselves" and more "in your face" than prior groups. I have been aggressively challenged several times while walking past them recently. Also, as of 3:30 PM today, someone seems to have started constructing some kind of barricade at the north end of this path just south of the east end of the pedestrian bridge.

I'm not requesting that the City clear these folks out but it would be nice if there was some kind of outreach/enforcement to keep this new group from forcing others off this path.
