Description
Now that the construction season is upon us and there has been talks of replacing and repairing sidewalks, can the town please do something about Flint Ave. The sidewalks do not meet the standard for the Americans with Disabilities Act and there are many families that live in the Flint/Rowe neighborhood with young children. During the commuting hours Flint Ave is used as a cut through and becomes a treacherous street for children and mothers pushing strollers to cross because of decrepit sidewalks. Flint Ave sees a significant amount of foot traffic not only because of the residents but also the two office buildings at the top of the street and Stop and Shop. Due to the horrible conditions of the side walks people are forced to walk in the street which creates a significant hazard given the amount of vehicle traffic. If The Town decided that Felspa Rd, a dead end met the criteria for new sidewalks then I'm sure that you will find that Flint Ave exceeds any formula used in deciding which streets get new sidewalks.

I often see police cruisers drive by illegally parked and never once have I seen them stop to issue a ticket. I'm not sure what the solution is here, but until the police department gets their act together and addresses this issue, why continue to waste taxpayer dollars on sidewalks?
