Thank you for the acknowledgement. I certainly hope that something gets done this time around such that the potential mosquito problem can be eliminated.

The tree is located on private property. It is up to the homeowner to remove this tree. Reassigning this issue to the Health Department because of the concern of a mosquito problem that might arise because of the tree blocking the flow of the brook.

Six weeks have elapsed since this issue was assigned to the Health Department. Has there been an acknowledgement of this or has there been any action taken. With the reduced flow of water in the brook, the water, stagnation of the flow is providing a great mosquito breeding location. The result of this is a reduced quality of life for the neighbors who live adjacent tot he brook.

I have asked the Health Department to provide an update.

The Health Department has been treating areas of stagnant water around Alcott Drive with an approved larvicide, on a regular basis, while attempting to identify solutions to help reduce any suitable habitats for mosquitoes. Today, September 8th, employees from the Publics Works department have begun to address this issue. Overgrown vegetation has been removed from both sides of the brook. The fallen tree has been removed. Large rip rap stone has been placed around the cement culvert and into the base of the brook. This will slow down the flow of water thus reducing the amount of bank material erosion during high flow times. Thank you to the members of the Public Works department for doing what has been done.
