This section of Nottingham Drive has no street lights and no sidewalks, in fact there is very little margin on either side of the road for pedestrians. And yet it is the only access pedestrians have to access Jackson Springs Park, the Lee Camellia Garden, or the Ocmulgee Heritage Trail. Just moments ago a pedestrian walking facing traffic on the verge in front of 969/972 Nottingham was nearly struck, as one car slowed as they went by the pedestrian, a following car nearly rear-ended the first car and almost struck the pedestrian. During many times of the day, nearly every day of the week, traffic volume is very high, speeds are typically 20-310mph over the 35mph limit as drivers attempt to avoid the backlog on Grey Highway. Additional signage must be placed along the street, local law enforcement should increase their presence to limit speeding, and traffic calming berms should be placed at multiple locations. Additionally, a second left turn lane from Spring Street at Nottingham could redirect much traffic onto North Avenue.

Additional Signage requires a work-order generated through Traffic Engineering. I have re-catogorized and re-assigned the issue to Engineering. This mainly seems to be an enforcement issue that should be handled through discussion with Macon-Bibb Sheriff's Office.

Neither additional signage nor increased law enforcement efforts will solve this problem. High traffic volumes need to be redirected out of the residential Shirley Hills neighborhood and speed calming devices need to be placed on both Twin Pines and Nottingham. Speed limits should be reduced to 25mph throughout the neighborhood.

K Poss : may I rely on your assistance within the Sheriff s department. Again I restate, this has been a known issue for years.

I have been sitting on my porch between the hours of 5pm and 7pm today. I have counted over 30 cars passing by my house going well over the posted speed limit. I have 3 children under the age of 10. I have posted a sign by the mailbox to please drive slowly and still most motorists are speeding. I implore the city to help the tax paying citizens and residents of Shirley Hills to slow/redirect traffic immediately. Thank you

Well now rush hour is coming to a close, there is debris at my mail box a car side wiped my mail boxes 😡

My informal observation this morning also shows that nearly every vehicle, whether private or commercial, has the driver talking or texting on their phone. And, while I applaud law enforcement's speed trap by the apartments on Nottingham, by the time they reach Curry Road in Shirley Hills most vehicles are already back above the speed limit!

Yes, just back from grocery store, I slowed and thanked the officer, now what about the speeders on Twin Pines.
