Description

Fayetteville Road SE is city of Atlanta but DeKalb County. I live on Fayetteville Road SE and cannot tell you how many times I see people FLY at 60 mph+ down a length marked 35 mph. People have children and pets on this road and there is a school toward the intersection of Glenwood Ave and Fayetteville Road SE (this does have traffic signals but they do not protect the area further down toward i-20).

There are countless pedestrians that use this stretch of road, but DeKalb County says roads must be marked 30 mph or less to have traffic calming. (http://www.dekalbcountyga.gov/publicwrks/transportation/tr_faq.html) I'm not sure what the solution to this is, but I can tell you there needs to be one. I see tons of animals getting hit all the time--and yes, I agree that is partially the owner's fault--but I can't imagine what would happen if a child wandered out or a driver simply over corrected and ran into a house.

People NEED to slow down. It's terrifying to watch from my front yard..Not to mention the potholes causing cars to bottom out when they go that fast. (i.e. @ Fayetteville & Bencal).
