Description

The intersetion of Maynard St. & Bielefield School. At this point, Maynard St. makes a 90% right hand turn, heading down to Bidwell Terrace. Cars coming up from Bidwell Terrace have to make what may look like a left turn, but in fact is just a curve in the road, thus giving them the right of way. Cars coming up Maynard St. heading to Bielefield School are supposed to yield the right of way to traffic coming around this curve, but instead drive right on into the school parking area without slowing or stopping to see if other traffic is coming. Cars exiting the school have a stop sign, but often ignore it, drivng right out without checking to see if oncoming cars are coming from the left. I have witnessed many vehicles ignoring the stop sign, including official city vehicles & school busses. I have brought this situation to the attention of the Police Department's traffic division & was assured that a stop sign or yield sign would be installed at the top of the hill for traffic heading towards Bielefield School. It has now been over 10 years and noting has been one. Does it take this long to do a quick study & install the much needed sign? Will the city will wait until there's an accident there, perhaps involving a bus filled with school kids, before action is taken?
