Description

Property has been vacant for over 3 years. Was declared “dangerous and unsafe” in December 2012 by Medford Building Department (John Bavuso).

The property presents a clear health and safety hazard to the neighborhood. Sections of the roof have collapsed, leaving the interior open to the elements. Neighbors frequently see rodents (coyote, red fox, opossum, raccoon, snakes, mice) entering and exiting the home. A rusted car sits in the yard, which presents an environmental contamination threat.

I have brought this issue to the attention of the City Council a year ago, as well as the Building and Health Departments. No action has been taken.

State law and local ordinances, through powers granted to the health and building departments, require immediate attention to properties that present a public nuisance, specifically ones that are dangerous to life and limb, vacant, and open to the weather.

This property has been a hazard to this neighborhood for far too long. It needs to be demolished.
