Description

This isn't about a traffic signal, but rather about people obeying the signal. I cross the intersection of Washington St. and the Arborway as a pedestrian almost daily, and every single time, there is someone blowing through the crosswalk while pedestrians have a walk signal. People will not stop doing this until they are held accountable. I would like there to be a camera monitoring the intersection and taking pictures of violators in order to ticket them. Police presence is not the answer, as it will only momentarily deter the behavior during the police presence. Furthermore, traffic is already congested there, and police pulling people over on the Arborway, where there is no shoulder, would cause traffic to become a nightmare. I know fines are a regressive system, but I would like to point out that, in my experience, the most flagrant violators are white people in nice cars.
