Description

There are several issues with the bike lane striping on Shellmound St past the Emeryville Ikea and Bay St mall including:

1) Before the Ikea entrance, just past the 40th St bridge, the northbound bike lane is a solid line all the way to the intersection, when it should instead be dashed for at least 50 feet in advance. This same issue occurs in several other locations along Shellmound St, such as next to the right turn into the Marriott parking lot.
2) Before the Ikea parking lot exit further north up Shellmound the stop line at the traffic signal does not extend across the bike lane. This same issue occurs at many of the signalized intersections in the southbound direction.
3) After the Ikea parking lot exit intersection the bike lane does not include a bike stencil, then again no bike stencil is painted after the Bay St Mall parking garage entrance/exit, after the intersection with Bay St, or after the intersection with Ohlone Way. There are lots of other areas along this stretch all the way up to Christie Ave where bike stencils should be painted, ideally after every intersection and garage exit.
4) In some cases on both northbound and southbound Shellmound St bike lane stencils should be painted mid-block, and not just at intersections. The standard minimum is once every 500 feet, which some of the blocks along Shellmound St exceed.
