Description

When I arrived home from work yesterday (4/11/16) I noticed there had been some street paving/pothole repairs. I was disappointed when I reached my driveway only to see that the holes in front of my home had not been addressed and/or repaired. I live on a street that used to dead-in at a cul-de-sac in front of my home. At some point, there was a new street that cut through the cul-de-sac to offer access to a new subdivision. When I moved into my home 9 1/2 years ago, the asphalt was breaking up in the street and at the end of my drive way. I had my driveway paved several years ago and asked the asphalt vendor to bring the asphalt out to fill in the street pothole and was told they could only pave out so far because that was city property. Two years ago, a snow plow came through and cracked up and took away some of the asphalt at the end of my driveway and it has been crumbling away and growing larger ever since especially with the changing temperatures and seasons and freezing of water in the hole. As you might imagine, I was hoping that the potholes that exist at the end of my driveway and those further into the street would have been repaired yesterday; but they have been ignored. Not only are the potholes unsightly but unsafe. Cyclist use our street often to get to Forest Hill Avenue. When it rains, water stands in the potholes and in the warmer seasons, mosquitoes breed in the standing water after it rains. Mosquitoes have always been pesky, but with the Zika virus there’s even more reason to be vigilant about eliminating standing water. I took photographs of the potholes and asphalt crumbling at my home and I have been uploaded one for your review. I have others but not able to add them to this site. I appreciate your attention to this situation and repair of the asphalt. Thank you.
