The hole is still there. I realize this is a gas pipe, but other gas pipes have caps with a smaller diameter hole in them. This pipe has no cap. Is it not possible to put a cap on it like the other ones in the neighborhood?

Maybe I am the only one bothered by this & this is the "fix" the city intended, but I know of no other place in the neighborhood where there is just an open pipe in the sidewalk. Granted it is likely not a danger to people, but it could injure a beloved pet if their leg falls in the pipe. Having known several humans who severely & permanently injured legs by stepping in a post hole, it continues to concern me for the animals who frequent the sidewalk every time I walk by it.
