Hi - I work at CFCC and can sympathize. I do not like walking through smoke either. When the college went smoke-free a couple of years ago, it did solve the problem of students smoking right in front of the building entrances. Unfortunately, CFCC's Downtown Campus property does not include the city-owned sidewalks and streets which adjoin the property. Since the city sidewalks are adjacent to the college property, students can move on the sidewalk and smoke there. College security does have have the authority to enforce the no smoking rule on city property. It's a tricky issue. Even if the college is successful in banning smoking around the adjacent campus property, the smokers will likely move across the street in front of neighboring businesses. The college would be moving their problem to another location - not a very neighborly solution. However, I will bring this issue up to campus leadership to see if a creative solution can be found.
