Description
There is a dead skunk in the street on Grand Avenue in front of the Fair Haven Community Health Center. Animal Control says it will cost $100 to remove...but it is in the street and not on private property.

Animal control needs to get on that and remove a rotting carcass from a heavily used area. No extra charges, this is covered by the citizen's taxes. One can only hope that the skunk doesn't have rabies or another communicable disease, as Animal Control's failure to clean up could bring liability on them and the city from any injury caused by their failure to do their job.

I commute daily on bike through this stretch of Grand Ave. In the last three months in this same exact block there have been a dead cat, a dead kitten, a partially hit skunk, and now today a dead skunk. I'm not sure what is going on on this block where there is so much road kill. And to be on a bike having to ride by it all the time is especially concerning.

You must have called a private animal control company that gave a quote to remove the deceased animal.
Animal Control in the City of New Haven does NOT pick up deceased animals, you would have been referred to contact Public Works @ (203) 946-7700. If the animal is still there give them a call in the morning and they will dispatch someone to pick it up.
FYI .... There only risk of disease from a deceased animal in the road is if you decide to pick it up with your bare hands, and that risk would be very minimal.
