Description

Dear Council Members,

I would formally like to request that the Town Council look into the approval of the upcoming Johnney's Mud Runs located at 346 Brainard Road. This year the mud runs will be a two day event, April 16-17. I'm still amazed that the first approval was ever passed by the Planning and Zoning board, since it's the same type of fertilized farm land that Fermi High School is on, which of course had to be abated and capped with new clean soil, see link for CT Dept. of Public Health facts,

http://www.ct.gov/dph/lib/dph/environmental_health/eoha/atsdr/fermihsfactsheet.pdf

During the mud runs, the dust from the parking area, and the entrance and exit becomes airborne, which in my opinion creates a hazard to the nearby residents and attendees to the event. Not to mention it will be an additional day of increased drivers operating under the influence and speeding in the area, not all in attendance are guilty of this but enough to make it a annoyance to the residents.

At the tax rate residents pay to live in the Town of Enfield, I don't feel it warrants that the residents who live in the area should be subjected to, in my opinion a race track. I also do question the tax rate and zoning for the property, it raises concern that the land may be at a farm tax rate, yet it's being used for something entirely different than taxed.

Thanking you in advance for your prompt attention to this matter.

Sincerely,
David Sopelak
