Description

Traffic on Clubhouse Dr. backs up due to the 3 way stop at Lake Shore Overlook and Clubhouse going down to 1 lane immediately beforehand. Based on traffic observations, it is rare for any vehicles to exit from Lake Shore Overlook during rush hour and the backup on Clubhouse can extend all the way back to Windward.

I do not believe from traffic observations that an all-way stop is warranted at Lake Shore Overlook, and removing the stop on Clubhouse Dr would improve traffic flow significantly. The other stop signs along Clubhouse could also be evaluated for traffic counts along the primary and secondary streets to determine if they are warranted as well.

Alternatively, an improvement of the traffic problems on McGinnis Ferry at the end of Windward would probably take much of the traffic off of Clubhouse. Adding an additional travel lane on McGinnis Ferry from Windward to Douglas Rd. may significantly decrease congestion and reroute through commuters from using Clubhouse Dr. as a connector.
