Description

On both sides of the green, under and around park benches, scattered across the grass, dumped under trees -- embarrassing filth and litter. As if nobody cared one bit about The Green. Read this from the Yale Daily News last fall: The Green is “New Haven’s living room” that no citizen should be prevented from enjoying, said Karyn Gilvarg ARC ’75, the executive director of the New Haven City Plan Department, adding that the aesthetic value of the space is part of its appeal. For every citizen in New Haven to be able to enjoy the space, the park should be green and well maintained, Gilvarg said. Obviously, the filth and trash allowed to be dumped on the Green by some prevents most other citizens from enjoying the Green. It would be marvelous if this constant filthy state of affairs could be addressed with sensitivity toward the homeless, but upholding the rights of the majority to enjoy the Green.
