For every citizen in New Haven to be able to enjoy the space, the park should be green and well maintained, Gilvarg said. Obviously, the filth and trash allowed to be dumped on the Green by some prevents most other citizens from enjoying the Green. It would be marvelous if this constant filthy state of affairs could be addressed with sensitivity toward the homeless, but upholding the rights of the majority to enjoy the Green.
