GDOT project.
I have had a many-message back and forth with them about this. What they told me was this crossing was "being studied" for a more-advanced type pedestrian crossing with some sort of signal. This is the reason, I think, that there are now auto stop lines at an intersection with no signal. Also, they, very eventually, removed old signage from East Lake that directed cars into the southbound bike lane.
There are also 'No Parking' signs along Park Ave. adjacent a very obvious, newly striped parking lane. These, I assume, will be removed when the new pedestrian signal goes in. Or not.
