This is because people park on the curb and the grass when they are not supposed to. This causes the rutting of the ground and the potholes you see. We live on Laburnum Avenue and get so disgusted that everyone parks like this causing our street to look like a mess. Just because the curb is a wet curb by design and you can drive on it doesn't mean you drive on it. Not to mention there are utilities that run in that, what was a grassy area, that everyone is running over with their cars. You don't go on any other City street and park on the curb or sidewalk. We just don't understand why everyone thinks you can along Laburnum. I suggest the police come through and start issuing tickets. Park on the side streets, park behind your house or park within 18 inches of the curb like any other street. Thanks for listening. We are beyond frustrating as you can tell.

Willis429, we heartily agree!

I agree with Willis and BCA. The referenced "pothole" is actually a wheel rut, caused by driving in the unpaved area behind the curb. In part, this is due to the fact that the curbs along Laburnum are almost flush with the pavement, so they don't act as wheel stops and they don't direct rainwater runoff to the storm sewer as they should. As I doubt the City will ever have the funds to re-set all of these curbs, the only alternative may be for residents to install a foot or so of pavers behind the curb, as some already have done.

I totally agree with the way Laburnum looks. I also don't understand why drivers picking up children from Holton are allowed to park on grass (dirt) even though there are no parking signs posted.

Agreed, Janet. Like so many other laws that don't get enforced...
