The owners of the construction site just to the West of Grandview Estate put snow and gravel on the sidewalk, blocking use by pedestrians. This is an illegal act by a commercial concern, but I predict DC Government will do nothing about the mess. Typical behavior of DC Government, both those elected and the bureaucrats they hire and protect.
Oh, and in answer to the questions above, which See-Click-Fix does not allow one to answer, the side walk in question abuts a construction site, where a builder is throwing up a bunch of townhouses which will be split into two flats, each. This particular builder has routinely flouted parking restrictions, worked outside legal hours, and blocked egress on and off this hillside, but no one either elected to public office or working for city government as an employee has done anything to hold the builder accountable. The approximate address is 1265 Talbert Street, but there is no "actual" address for any of the buildings going up on that property at this time.
The sidewalk remains blocked by mounds of mud, gravel, and a tiny bit of snow that hasn't melted. Indeed, there is even a piece of old plywood in the mound that the builder has loaded onto the public sidewalk, blocking it to all pedestrian traffic. Closing the incident, and "investigating" it means that you people at DPW don't want to be bothered. I've lived in DC long enough to know your code.
The sidewalk is blocked, illegally, through the actions of agents of the builder that is developing the lot in front of which the sidewalk runs.
In addition, that same builder has wrecked the sidewalk on either side of the road cut they created to do work on the lot it is developing.
The people who created this mess are not good neighbors, and should be fined and forced to clean up their mess. I want to know what the City Government does about this mess up here on the top of this hill.
Every time you close this service request without having forced that developer to clear the sidewalk and without letting me know how much in fines was assessed against the builder, I will reopen it.
