Description

The crosswalk signal has been set to be functionally irresponsive, i.e., cycles vehicular traffic through multiplle times without allowing pedestrian use of crosswalk.

Years ago this was explained away as helping cities save money by allowing emergency vehicles freer use of SanPablo AVenue as a response corridor, and thus, even reducing the number of required response stations。

The recent reported fatality at this intersection shoukd have ended that argument。The lack of a working crosswalk light also encourages people to forgo using the light regulated intersection。

Two suggestions, first, install working crosswalk technologies the length of San Pablo Ave。Second, consider rehiring traffic engineers and subcontractors who know what sustainable use patterns in residential areas are (it means encouraging foot traffic even in this deliberately wastefully designed and maintained big lot, single family dwelling, SUV and MInIvan loving community。)

Thank You。
