Just what Kingston needs... another schitzophrenic weirdo being allowed to roam the streets!

I think what you see is a woman who has all the help she can handle. You might politely greet her, be available, but I think she is aware of her venting, does not wish to trouble others with it, and prefers to be just ignored in those times. She doesn't have a car where she can scream or holler in all by herself. and be completely unnoticed.

Yes this is Lucy,
She does have a lot of supports in place.
She has been court orderd to go to mental health on the hill.
She refuses meds.
She swears that someone has stole her son Daniel and her nephew Andrew.
They are perfectly alive and well and live here. She chooses not to believe who they are.
I help her often by giving her bags of toiletries and sometimes taking her to get a Slurpee.
She loves children and is very great around them.
I have done alot of my own investigating to try to help her.
Lucy has gotten very irrational lately and wont even talk to me.
I heard on click fix that her children were taken by Dss. I can not confirm that its only hear say.
I have spoke to her about it and she has no memory of them being taken by dss.
She says the 2 guys that live local Daniel and Andrew are imposters who stole her sons identity.
She has called police , sheriff and missing persons to report them missing.
She is aware of things but has no control over the words that come out of her mouth .
The police have given her many warnings about public behavior but continue to give her chances.
Over the summer she came to me and said someone complained of her going into their porch or something and the cops were called. She was so upset over that. She said it wasn't true,
Im not sure what is going to happen with Lucy but she is a good hearten lady.

If this woman is so mentally ill, then she is not fit to be walking the streets and needs to be removed and committed into an institution which is equipped to deal with her situation. From the sounds of it, she is probably paranoid schitzophrenic, and her behavior warrants careful scruitiny until medical professionals can determine whether or not she is a danger to society.

Catina- It sounds like the system has tried to help her but if she refuses to take her medication there is not much that can be done short of a court order to commit her to an inpatient institution long term which may not be the best thing either. Lets face there are some people who just cannot be helped unless they want the help and it seems that she does not.

Lucy does not hurt anyone. She thinks the boys were abducted by aliens, I believe, and were replaced with imposters. She is distraught over it. She yells, but she is harmless, and yes she loves kids.
To all of you who thinks she should in essence be forced to b inpatient somewhere, she has very right to not take her meds, yell at cars and hit street posts. She is mentally ill not a criminal and she is harmless. Have some compassion, she is a human being who lives each day in her own nightmare. The best thing you can do is take it as an opportunity to practice tolerance, and teach it to your children.

By law, being crazy (and I agree, likely paranoid schizophrenic) is not a reason to lock someone up. Other than ranting and raving (often at someone not visible), she doesn't affect others negatively. It would have to be shown she is a danger to self or others. If she is even occassionally medicated (she looked like she was having a good day today) then she has certainly been assessed. I would hate to think that if I had a bad day and started venting a bit, I could have my freedom taken for that.

She is in terrible pain and perhaps there is a social worker that can come and help her?
