These seems to be a persistent problem that is posted, acknowledged, then reposted again. What's being done about this? We had a person sleeping against our front door this morning on Sanchez Street.

It is sad that people are living like this. Most of the folks on the street are or have mental health issues. Given there also is a great deal of self medicating and drug and alcohol use it makes for a messy situation. We also have no standards of behaviour for folks on the street. They are not held accountable for anything they do or participate in because we ignore them and just hope they go away. They are not going anywhere and things are only going to get worse with the tract we are on. Building community means involvement of all including the homeless. We need to stop making decisions about them with out there involvement. However if they are asked to do something like in any community there are repercussions for there behaviour if they don't treat others like they want to be treated. We also need to recognize we have a Mental Health Emergency on the streets of our city. We need more mental health beds and more communiity Case Management in order to help these folks stay on there meds and follow up with offered services. Right now the patients are running the asylum and we need to change that for everyone's benefit especially the homeless who are dying at greater numbers on the street then ever before. Sad. Call your Supervisor and demand more mental health services and your Congressman as well.
