The most effective way to get rid of roaches is to powder their areas with boric acid. Ask at the pharmacy; it's cheap and it's really the only thing that will kill them. Not toxic to humans or pets, although you wouldn't want to eat a lot of it. And add borax to the rinse water when washing down counters, furniture, storage areas, etc. so that a light coating of it stays on surfaces.

Your can also use food grade Diatomaceous earth. As with all non toxic products to mammals it takes more time. This is great for ants, roaches, fleas and bed bug. May all so be used to remove internal parasites.
