Description

Trees planted in the late 1970s, early 1980s are over grown and have made it impossible to see possible crimes from the properties. One tree in particular is in front of my grandmother's home, next door at 618 22nd Street. This tree impedes the two streetlights from either side to cast lighting in front of her entire property. It also hinders visibility to potential crime. I've contacted the Public Works department in June 2011, and was offered no assistance (Service Request #372257). Both trees have grown well above the power and utility lines. The trees are also hanging low enough that I, at 5'4", have to lower my head to clear some branches. A branch from each tree has fallen on parked cars but, luckily, caused no damage to the vehicles. I am one to observe my surroundings to preserve the safety of my home and neighborhood and look outside if I hear any possible threat or annoyance. We used to have a neighborhood watch group years ago, but since that dissolved, I try to stay vigilant and aware for myself and my neighbors. These tree were cute when they were seven feet , but now at over 20 feet, they are more of a burden. Please assist in this safety issue.
