no. there are crosswalks. the one crossing union ave just after water street is the crosswalk i am talking about. there is a raised traffic island separating the four lanes of traffic. drivers usually are coming very fast from both directions (and cops are usually parked over the part of the crosswalk closest to the street, so it takes even more of a leap of faith to step out into the street to cross.)

this is just after the crosswalk over water street, where cars are turning right to get onto the highway, and very seldom yield to people walking as well. both are terrifying.
