Description
I live on Livingston St. My Blue, 1996 Ford Van was stolen overnight on 7/23/2112 from Livingston St. near Avon St. and later found nearby on the following morning. The ignition had been "popped". Over 1000$ in tools were stolen. What wasn't stolen was destroyed. After refueling it
I discovered the transmission had been damaged. Large items were stolen from the van as well, so a larger vehicle is used as "transport vehicle" Van may have been taken somewhere else to unload but there was very little fuel so it could not have been far. The gas cap was missing and not found nearby. I believe the fuel had been siphoned also. Any information would be appreciated. The van is a full-sized van blue in color. I recovered the vehicle myself this morning at the intersection of Linden and Livingston Streets. I have made a police report with The New Haven Police Dept.

Wow ! It was stolen Sunday night sometime and found Tuesday morning nearby ? Or stolen the night of the 23'rd and found this morning ,the 24'th ? I'm sorry for the quiz but , if the second case or scenario is true then they were not far at all, maybe they left it running while emptying it right there, and emptied the gas tank . Then were planning on returning ?! Maybe even walking back from Jerry's with a gas can.
This is a terrible thing to be hearing . Maybe post flyers around also beseaching the neighbors for any info. A man's van is his castle and means to his keep. Have you owned this for a long time ?
Original paint ? I've heard something about a '96 van before ,from somewhere...

I'm sorry to hear about your trouble. It's bad enough that they stole your tools but to damage
it as well is a real shame. I'm not trying to lecture you on this subject but in the future, don't
leave anything of value in your vehicle. Perhaps your next vehicle will have some better
security to prevent another incident. Good luck.
