Description

This is not exactly a sewer backup or drain flooding issue but somewhat similar to both. During the biggest part of 2008, my street - Perkins Extended - was excavated for installation of a higher-capacity drainage culvert. It was well underway by April of that year and not completed until early 2009. Although it involved a lot of inconvenience, it was very much needed. The project supervisor for the city with whom I talked on numerous occasions, assured my wife and me that our property would be returned to us in as good a shape as when the project began, if not better. THIS DEFINITELY DID NOT TURN OUT TO BE THE CASE as far as the drainage at the end of our driveway is concerned. I know you won't do anything about this problem, but at least this 311Memphis app is allowing me to vent my long bottled-up frustration. As you should be able to tell from the picture I have attached, rainwater stands at the end of my driveway after a rain even though there is a double sewer access about 10 feet away. That was NEVER the case before the culvert project. The pavement was put down much too thick so that the water is prevented from draining properly. There does not appear to be a problem anywhere else except at the end of my driveway. I have often wished that I could get that project supervisor back here after a rain to show him what a mess he created for us.
