Description

We need solar-powered LED crosswalk flashing lights similar to what they have here http://xwalk.com/pages/crosswalk-lighting.htm We walk the linear park almost daily as do many other people in the community. The challenge is crossing Peeler Road. 90% of drivers do NOT stop for pedestrians in the crosswalk. You take your life in your hands when you attempt to cross Peeler Road. A year or so ago, I was hit by a motorist who did not stop even after hitting me. Fortunately I was not seriously hurt, but I was definitely shaken.

A few weeks ago Dunwoody Police conducted a crosswalk detail on Peeler Road and handed out 40 citations in a short period of time.

We have had drivers go around us while we were in the crosswalk!! I don't know if it is a matter of not paying attention or they simply don't know that they are supposed to stop for pedestrians in the crosswalk.

In any event, we need flashing LED lights to alert drivers to STOP and yield to pedestrians in the crosswalk. Let's not wait until someone is seriously injured or killed before we take action.
