It's not that easy. You can't just send a maintenance guy out there with a home depot power washer. You are talking about a complicated and costly cleaning and restoration of a high profile building in the center of campus. To clean the building correctly (because a power washer probably will cause more problems than it solves) will cost upwards of $100,000. It probably doesn't make economic sense yet, though I'm sure the decision makers on campus are aware of the issue.
It's the north side, and it's something that could stain the marble if left on for too long. I'm sure the university will take care of it. It's not more complicated than just power-washing it.
