Description

The United Illuminating Company will be starting an underground civil construction project Sunday night,
October 18, 2015 on Church Street between Crown and Chapel Streets and is anticipated to last until mid-November, 2015.

The work will consist of the upgrading of existing underground infrastructure in an effort to keep up with the growing demand for electric facilities and service requirements in the downtown area.

To start the project, United Illuminating contractors will be doing the noisiest part of the work from 6pm-10pm on Monday 10/19 through Thursday 10/22. Thank you to United Illuminating for working with the City of New Haven and the Town Green to limit the noisiest of work to 6-10pm.

After the saw-cutting of the roads, general construction activities will occur on Sunday through Thursday nights from 8:00 pm to 6:00 am during this period. This work will be considerably less noisy than the saw cutting - still it would be prudent if your windows face Church Street to consider a white noise machine during this time.

Upon completion, this work will benefit the City of New Haven and their residents with newer electric facilities and better system reliability in the downtown area.
