Description
DOT placed raised bumps on the white lines of Mineral Springs Rd. These bumps can cause light vehicles to break traction, especially when wet. Also, when a driver is startled by the noise and feel of the bumps, it may cause an over-correction into on-coming traffic. In my opinion, it would be better to alert a driver that their vehicle is on the yellow line. This would help to protect the errant driver AND the on-coming traffic. How do these bumps affect 2-wheel vehicles, especially bicycles that ride near the white line anyway. However, the best solution is no bumps at all.

DOT just placed these down the sides of 378 HWY between Beulah Church Rd to Saluda Traffic Circle in Lexington/Saluda county. I live directly on 378 about 400 ft off of the road and the noise is annoying but it also proves how much people do not pay attention AT ALL while driving. The noise is suppose to get your attention, that is the point of them. I do not have an opinion yet as to how effective they are but I do know that in the 6 years I have been in my home we have had 4 accidents and 2 fatalities right in front of my house, WITHOUT these rumble strips. If they can wake people up and make them pay attention then I am all for them!
My questions is how would a yellow line warn a driver any more than the white did? When people drive without looking at the road, the COLOR of the line is irrelevent.
