The gentleman who lives on the corner of Mitchell and Anderson routinely has fires in his backyard, burning brush. The smoke invades a 1-2 block radius and fills houses with smoke if windows are left open

I just called the people who are registered at the property and left messages for each of them. Please post again if they do not cease open burning and we'll try another approach.
Thanks!

The Connecticut General Statutes allow the burning of non processed wood for campfires as long as there is no local restrictions and it does not create a nuisance.(cooking does not justify a nuisance) If they are not having a campfire and they are burning to get rid of vegetative material they are required to have a permit issued by the local open burning official. I would contact the Fire Marshal’s office and ask who in the town would respond to nuisances related to burning and who could determine if a permit was issued. A local official will need to come out during the burn to determine if it is a nuisance.

The nice neighbor hasn't burned anything since Alderman Elicker called him. Both are great guys.
